Terms of Service

By using Desk you agree to these terms. If you do not, please do not use it. Desk is operated by [Entity] (“we”, “us”). You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 13.

Desk is under active development and is provided free of charge. Features change and are sometimes removed. It may be unavailable, lose work in progress, or behave in ways it should not.

Keep your own copies of anything you would be sorry to lose. Account settings has an export that gives you every project, card and subject as plain Markdown files. It is there so that leaving, or losing your account, is never the same as losing your work.

Desk has no subscription, no in-app purchase, and no AI usage cost of its own. You supply an API key from Anthropic or OpenAI, and everything the app generates is billed to your account with that provider, at their rates.

You are responsible for that account: for the charges it incurs through Desk, for keeping the key confidential, for revoking it if it is exposed, and for complying with your provider’s own terms and usage policies. Their policies govern what happens to the prompts they receive.

We do not control provider pricing, availability or model behaviour, and we are not responsible for charges you incur. If cost matters to you, set a spending limit in your provider’s console.

What you put into Desk stays yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store your content, display it back to you, send it to the AI provider you chose, and — if you create a share link — serve that item to whoever holds the link.

You are responsible for what you put in, including having the right to put it there.

Model output can be wrong, out of date, or invented, including citations and figures that look authoritative. Desk shows sources where it can and checks citations where it can, and neither makes the output reliable.

Nothing Desk produces is professional advice — legal, medical, financial or otherwise. Check anything you intend to act on.

Do not use Desk to:

• break the law, or infringe anyone’s rights;
• generate or distribute material that harasses, defames, or sexually exploits anyone, or that is designed to deceive people about who wrote it;
• attack the service — probing, scraping, overloading it, or trying to reach other people’s accounts or content;
• circumvent your AI provider’s usage policies, or resell access to Desk as your own service.

We may suspend or remove accounts that do these things, and expect to do so rarely and with an explanation.

We do not promise any level of uptime. We may change, suspend or discontinue Desk, and will give notice where we reasonably can.

You can stop using Desk whenever you like. Export first — see Getting your data out — and then ask us to delete your account.

Desk is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its output will be accurate.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for lost or corrupted data; and our total liability arising from Desk is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the previous twelve months (which, for a free beta, is nothing) or 50 USD.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law permits, and nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

We may update these terms; the date at the top changes when we do, and we will flag anything material in the app. Continuing to use Desk after a change means you accept it.

These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction], and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from them.
